Ayawaso West By-Election: NPP Should Respect The Dead – Joshua Akamba

The National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Akamba Hamidu has blast the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for ignoring to mourn the late member of parliament for Ayawaso West Wuguon , Hon Emmanuel Agyarko.

According to him, NDC is seriously mourning late Hon. Agyarko that is why they have stayed off the agitation going round the media concerning the Ayawaso West Wuguon Bye-Election.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Programme, he reiterated that one of the traditions of NDC is to respect the death and that he thinks this is the only time they can pay their last respect for the late Hon.

“He was a representative for both NDC and NPP for Ayawaso West Wuguon in Parliament so we will give him that respect till his final funeral rites.”

Reacting to the attitude of the NPP after the demise of the late Hon. Agyarko, he said he was disappointed in NPP for ignoring to mourn the late Hon. Agyarko instead fight over his succession.

“From the day of his demise NDC decided to put on hold all meetings to pay our last respect, but his own party members refused to do same for the poor man."

I was thinking the president will even hold on his Eastern Regional tour to be able to mourn the late Hon. Agyarko with the family members, but what did we see, he and Sammi Awuku went to the house with a normal dress instead of the traditional black, symbolizing grief.

“Imaging if it were to be Gabby Asare Otchere Darko or Asante Bediatuo who died,  will the president still proceed with his tour, he asked

“This is not fair, unacceptable and NPP should bow their head in shame,” he stressed.

He also added that the NDC will take up the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in the bye-election and bring honour to a man who served his country well.

“We will go there and take our seat; don’t forget that seat used to be an NDC seat and so we will go there and take the seat. If the president has taken Mr. Agyarko for granted, then we will go and take our seat back,” he vowed.
