Egypt, Nigeria Reach Last Eight

Six-times champions Egypt maintained their perfect record at the African Nations Cup when they beat Benin 2-0 in their final Group C game on Wednesday. Forward Peter Odemwingie scored twice to help Nigeria to a 3-0 win over Mozambique and a place in the African Nations Cup quarter-finals. The Russian-based striker scored either side of halftime as the Super Eagles, who began the tournament with a 3-1 defeat by champions Egypt, made sure of a top-two finish in Group C. Obafemi Martins completed the scoring just before the end for the World Cup qualifiers. Mozambique, who have taken part in the tournament five times without mustering a win, finished with a single point from their opening draw with Benin.
