Live Update: Full-Time...Angola 0-1 Ghana

The first quarter-final at the 2010 African Cup of Nations has ended with unpredictable hosts Angola losing out to Ghana, who laboured into the knock-out stages and missed several key players. FT: Angola 0 Ghana 1 _________________________________ 90+7 min: The referee has blown the final whistle and Ghana are through to the semis. The Black Stars fought hard for the 90 minutes and deserve to progress. Angola had their chances but were unable to take them. 90+6 min: Rui Marques slips and allows Kwadwo Asamoah in on goal. However, the defender recovers well and makes a great challenge before Carlos Fernandes cleared up field. 90+5 min: Job runs at the Ghana defence but runs out of options and the danger is cleared. 90+3 min: Kali has another chance after being played through on goal but Kingson does well to rush out and close down the shot before Issac Vorsah cleared off the line. 90+1 min: Rui Marques whips in a great ball but Kali is unable to connect and the ball rolls out for a goalkick. So close for the Angola skipper. 90 min: There will be five minutes of added time... 89 min: Job dances his way into the Ghana penalty area but his final ball is poor and the danger is cleared. Things like that are factors in why Angola are going out of the tournament. 87 min: Kwadwo Asamoah beats two Angola defenders before unleashing a shot which is blocked out for a corner, which comes to nothing. 85 min: Agyemang brings down Mabina from behind and is cautioned. 84 min: Angola have all of the possession at the moment but they are failing to use it. They seem to have run out of ideas and look static in midfield especially. Their fans really need to get behind their team for one last push now. 81 min: Flavio is caught offside but he really should not have been. He took off too early when he should have held back. Silly errors are really costing Angola here. 79 min: Milovan Rajevac makes his second change with Draman replaced by Eric Addo. Ghana are looking to hold on now. 78 min: Amoah is booked by the referee for timewasting. Bit early for that surely? 76 min: Jose makes his final change with Zuela replaced by Enoque Guilherme. 73 min: Gilberto is replaced by Ze Kalanga as Jose shuffles his pack again. 72 min: Djalma crosses beautifully for Manucho but the striker heads wide. Another glorious chance missed by the big forward. 70 min: Angola win a free kick a matter of inches outside the penalty area after Manucho was brought down by Hans Sarpei. Gilberto takes the set piece but his effort is deflected wide of the target for a corner, which comes to nothing. 68 min: Djalma crosses towards Flavio at the far post but the striker heads the ball away from goal instead of towards the target. Ghana win a throw in as a result. What was he doing there? 66 min: Draman breaks into the box and hits a fierce shot at goal which Carlos Fernandes is able to catch. Either side of the goalkeeper and it would have been 2-0. 63 min: Manuel Jose does not look happy on the sidelines. His team have been wasteful in this second period and he will expect a much improve performance for the rest of the match. 62 min: Asamoah Gyan cannot continue and is replaced by Matthew Amoah in attack. 58 min: Asamoah Gyan pulls up while chasing down a long ball. It looks like a hamstring problem but he will try and run it off. Not sure if that is such a clever idea. 57 min: Angola make the first change of the game with defensive midfielder Stelvio coming off for Job. An attacking change from coach Manuel Jose. 55 min: Andre Ayew hits a shot from distance which flies into the grateful arms of Black Antelopes goalkeeper Carlos Fernandes. 53 min: Mabina this time bursts down the right but again the cross is weak and the ball is hoofed clear. The delivery into the penalty area needs to improve from an Angola point of view. 50 min: Rui Marques bombs forward down the right flank but his cross fails to trouble the Ghana defence and the ball is cleared. 49 min: Gyan is back on the pitch after receiving treatment. 47 min: Asamoah Gyan has been stretchered from the field after picking up a shoulder injury. 46 min: The second half has kicked off. HT: Angola 0 Ghana 1 _________________________________ 45+2 min: The referee has brought the first half to an end. Ghana have worked hard and probably deserve their lead, although Angola have shown a few moments of brilliance. See you in 15 minutes... 45 min: There will be two minutes of added time. 44 min: Angola miss a golden chance to draw level. A long ball from Gilberto is poorly dealt with by the Ghana defence and with Kingson on the ground, Manucho blazes over the top of what was essentially an open goal from close range. Pathetic finishing really. 41 min: The general play of both sides has become a little bit scrappy but Angola are still having the better of the possession. 37 min: Asamoah Gyan scores again but his goal is ruled out as the linesman raised his flag. Good call but another great finish from the forward. 36 min: The referee has penalised Kingson for taking too long with his clearance. Angola receive an indirect free-kick inside Ghana's penalty area but Flavio wastes it as the ball flies harmlessly over the bar. He should have gone low there. 35 min: Gilberto sends a great ball into the box again which Kingson drops in a dangerous area. However, the keeper reacts quickest and quells the danger. 33 min: Mabina is cautioned for a silly pull on Agyemang while they were both in the air going for a header. 30 min: Flavio gets to the byline and crosses in for Manucho. The former Manchester United forward headed powerfully towards goal but Kingson was in a good position to push the ball away from danger. Good save given the pace of the header. 28 min: The Black Stars are working hard in midfield and defence to close down any and all of Angola's attacks. This tactic will no doubt frustrate the host nation but it is how they deal with it that will determine if they are to go on and win the match. 26 min: Flavio does well to flick a long ball into the path of Manucho inside the penalty area, but the referee stops play as Flavio was adjudged to have fouled Samuel Inkoom. 24 min: Gilberto crosses a ball into the box which Kingson makes a meal of. Instead of making a routine catch, the Wigan stopper dived through the air and punched clear. That was not necessary and could have put his side under more pressure. 21 min: Djalma wins a free kick for Angola which is whipped in by Gilberto. The Ghana defence fails to deal with it at the first attempt but are able to scramble it clear after a bit of ping-pong in the box. 19 min: Stelvio picks up the ball in midfield and hits a speculative effort which sails high over the bar. A little bit of frustration starting to settle in already? 16 min: GOAL! Ghana take the lead! Kwadwo Asamoah plays a peach of a ball through for Asamoah Gyan who makes no mistake with a calm finish from the edge of the penalty area. Excellent pass and brilliant finish. 15 min: Addy and Kingson get in a horrible mess again but luckily for Ghana there were no Angola players close enough to pounce. The communication between goalkeeper and defenders is non-existent for the Black Stars. 13 min: The last time these two teams met in Angola it was a 0-0 draw. Hopefully that is not the case today. 12 min: Draman sends a ball into the box which Asamoah Gyan fails to connect with. It was a great ball but Gyan was taken by surprise that the ball actually reached him. 10 min: Ghana win a free kick just outside the Angola box. Asamoah Gyan strikes for goal but his effort just misses the post. Nearly a goal against the run of play. 8 min: A great passing move sees Djalma Campos get behind the Ghana defence and his cross is deflected off the boot of Lee Addy towards his own goal but Richard Kingson is able to keep it out at the second attempt. 5 min: Haminu Draman breaks down the right flank but is well tackled by Francisco Zuela and a corner is won. The Black Stars take it short but Opoku Agyemang is caught off side after failing to fall back. Agyemang should not have been flagged there, lazy play. 3 min: Angola have started this encounter positively and will want to make their early dominance count with a goal. 1 min: The referee is taking no nonsense today as Andre Ayew is booked for a heavy challenge on Mabina. Usually an early tackle like that would have resulted in a warning but not today. The free kick is then whipped into the box but comes to nothing. 1 min: The match has kicked off in front of a packed Estdio 11 de Novembro stadium in Luanda...
