'Bloody Widow' Can Be Offensive But,...It Was Misconstrued – NDC MP

The MP was speaking to why the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refuse to recognise Madam Lydia Alhassan as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

He admitted that the phrase 'bloody widow' can be offensive; however, according to him, when it is put in context, it becomes understandable.

"I appreciate personally the concerns that have been expressed by some well-meaning Ghanaians as far as the phrase ‘bloody widow’ was concerned. It may have been as a result of the fact that they misconstrued or misunderstood the purpose and intension of those who held it and so I appreciate their concern because that phrase without the context can be offensive. But the explanation given should suffice".
