NDC Better Not Contest 2020 Elections; There Will Be Beatings But...-Sir John

The fear that the beating of the NDC members in the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election was going to escalate, forcing the party’s National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and other leaders to withdraw from the election, Lawyer Owusu Afriyie is assuring the opposition similar beatings in the 2020 general elections.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Forestry Commission, the fear which griped the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to decide to back down from the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election should be maintained and therefore declare President Akufo-Addo winner again the 2020 general election.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Sir John as popularly called said if the least violence outside polling stations can frighten the large opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to concede defeat, then nothing will change in 2020 as violence always occurs in elections in the country.

“I have heard the NDC say they will not contest the 2020 elections and so we should declare Akufo-Addo President again to continue his good works. They are saying that if we will beat them, then they will not contest in the 2020. As for beatings, they are bound to happen. We will not beat them but there will be beatings”, he assured.

He averred that the NDC beat their members during the 2016 elections but that did not scare the then opposition NPP to back down from the general elections.

Commenting on the “bloody widow” placards shown in Parliament by the Minority, he was of the view that it is desperation making the Minority to feel uncomfortable; hence their agitations at the least opportunity.

“Only few days in opposition that is making them feel uncomfortable but they know that when Akufo-Addo finishes his 8 years, Bawumia will come and take over the baton for another 8 years; it is only then they will hear bobolibobo. They have not seen anything yet; they are only experiencing the surface of opposition”, he asserted.

He wondered why the NDC will complain bitterly about the violence which greeted the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election when in Talensi, the Azorka Boys brutalised the NPP and destroyed his car.

“Portuphy and his men were caught with AK47 guns in Talensi Police station and I went there and saw the Police handling over the AK47 guns back to them. After that, come and see gun shots during the by-election. So what are they talking about? This Ayawaso West Wuogon incident was a concert party; nothing happened”, he said.

He however registered his disagreement over the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry to look into the by-election violence which took place at Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

“Was John Mahama not in this country when his minister said violence begets violence? Or they have forgotten? We will teach a lesson in this country. They think we are fools”, he jabbed.
