Its not been very long since fast rising artiste Bryan the Mensah made the assertion that main stream artistes do not owe the upcoming ones like himself any favours, but that every artiste has to go out and do their best to connect with the people they think can help push their music career.

On the same mainstream and upcoming artistes issue, Doctor and Musician Dr. Laylow, who also was a part of the top 100 nominees in Mr Eazi’s Empawa Africa movement, has declared his view that there is enough space for everybody in the music industry so he does not see why some mainstream artistes should try to prevent the entry of new artistes, because some do. This view of his was shared on the 13th of February 2019, on the X-Jam show with Host Thompson C D Nortey, and was in response to the question ” Do you think that the mainstream artistes view you the upcoming ones as a threat? ”

Dr. Laylow believes that this attitude or some mainstream artistes trying to keep out new artistes is just simpleminded and does not help the industry in anyway. There need not necessarily be competitions and rivalry because different artistes come with their complimentary styles: there is a market for everyone. In that respect he commended the effort of Mr Eazi on his Empawa Africa movement.

Dr. Laylow has been doing music for a while now , but took a break to concentrate on his studies at the medical school.
Before he was signed with Magnum, one of the top notches in music production in Ghana; but they had to amicably part ways due to a set of unfortunate incidents. This is how he became an independent artiste.

Currently Dr. layLow has to his successes four songs including the likes of Born one, God bless the hustle, and the song currently making waves in the country, No Sleep.

About his inspiration , he mentioned the likes of Drake and Sarkodie among others.

Dr. Laylow also wishes to do a remix of his song “No Sleep” with either Sarkodie or Kwesi Arthur, or both these artistes.
