80% of Ofosu-Ampofo’s Leaked Tape Is 'Doctored' - Sammy Gyamfi

Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Sammy Gyamfi, says an audio recording circulating purported to be the voice of his party Chairman, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo has been doctored.

He insisted that, portions of the audio has been altered and made impure – “I can tell you that, 80% of the voice is fake” – after accusing the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] of masterminding that connives.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is planning to unleash attacks on key personalities in Ghana including the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa and the National Peace Council boss, a leaked tape reveals.

A leaked tape purported to be the voice of NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo in a meeting with party communicators said: “we’re going to take her [EC boss] to the cleaners.”

“As for the EC Chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face . . .,” Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the Ayawaso by-election.

The NDC’s National Chairman also in the leaked tape noted that the NDC will target the lives of NPP members in 2020.

“We will go after them, but we will not go after them face-to-face. We have to use tactical operation to make life very uncomfortable for them. We will target some people and we will let the people know that their lives are in danger,” Ofosu- Ampofo allegedly said.

But Sammy Gyamfi who was speaking on the issue in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ said the NPP with the help of state security have planted secret recording devices in some offices at their head office to monitor their proceedings.

“This is against the law. This is undemocratic,” he said.

Sammy Gyamfi however wondered why the NPP did not leak the “original” tape but rather a doctored one after secretly recording their conversations.

“What prevented them from releasing the original tape? Let me tell you, I was at the said meeting and our Chairman never said what is on the tape. Why is the NPP spying on us [NDC] and planting budding devices at our offices. This is criminal,” he averred.
