Instigators of Leaked Ofosu-Ampofo Tape Are Part of NDC - As Allotey Jacobs Warns NDC Youth

Social Commentator and former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs has called on the NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo to come clean on the leaked audio purported to contain his voice inciting some party faithfuls against the ruling New Patriotic Party.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme,Wednesday, Allotey Jacobs believed Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo did nothing wrong as he recounted that his actions are purely for political purposes.

" . . After listening to the tape, I realised that charlie let's play politics, and that is pure politics, it's not about his character . . . sometimes we need to defend him because it's politics, it's absolutely politics," he defended the embatled Chairman.

According to him, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo was explaining to members of the NDC why the party boycotted the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and so needed to convince them.

Allotey told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the NDC National Chairman is "one of the finest gentlemen" in the country but was speaking to “hardcore radicals, so you have to find a way to convince them. I mean that’s politics. What don’t we say behind closed doors? Because he never expected that this thing will come out. The youth in NDC should be very careful”.

However, he believes that the instigators of the this leakage are part of the NDC Communication Team.

"NDC youth should be very careful . . . we've gotten an exuberant youth who are not harnessing their energy to bubble and to help the NDC into power," he said.

He advised Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo not to be silent on the issue but "talk to Ghana, explain himself".
