NPP: 'Right Thinking' Members of NDC Ought to Distance Themselves From Shameful Ofosu-Ampofo (VIDEO)

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has asked the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo to resign after a purported audio recording of him making some seditious comments were leaked on social media.

At a press conference in Accra today, Wednesday, the Communications Director of the NPP and Member of Parliament for Adentan constituency, Lawyer Yaw Buabeng Asamoah urged the party to ensure Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo puts his position down to restore sanity in their party and Ghana's body politics.

A leaked audio circulating on social media purported to be the voice of NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo believed to be from a meeting held at the NDC’s headquarters days after the infamous Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence, captures leading members of the opposition party allegedly communicating strategies to use to regain power in 2020.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, who was heard speaking to some party members without equivocation, noted the NDC will target the lives of NPP members in 2020 since state security cannot protect them.

According to him, another delicate aspect to win the 2020 election is targeting the EC Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa.

He was also heard saying that he was hiring someone to seemingly guard former President John Mahama saying a driver from "one of our retired security people who can drive and at the same time give him protection and do some covert operations” and secretly target some members of the NPP.

In the press conference, lawyer Buabeng Asamoah condemned the party and it’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo for unleashing violence and denting the image of Ghana describing his actions as "bad and ugly" and threatening Ghana’s stability.

“ . . right thinking members of the NDC ought to move fast and distance themselves from this shameful leadership, those in the NDC who believe in an ideology must rise and demand resignations, all those culpable must account to the NDC first and to the nation . . .” Mr. Yaw Buabeng Asamoah said.

He however congratulated former President Mahama on his victory in the NDC Primaries over the weekend but urged him to change his “boot-for-boot" political philosophy.
