'The Elephant Is Not a Weakling Party' That Can Be Intimidated - Sammy Awuku

The National Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku, says he is very disappointed in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

Reacting to a voice purported to be that of Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo circulating on social media revealing plans of the NDC to capitalize the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence to recapture power in 2020, he said he is saddened and disappointed by the conduct of Ofosu-Ampofo because of his unfortunate words.

"This is the most despicable and reckless comments ever heard. Our lives are in danger and I am calling on IGP to give us security protection," he said.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he stated emphatically that nobody can intimidate NPP as the elephant cannot be intimidated.

"The elephant is not a weakling party that can easily be intimidated, but for the love of this country we always temper justice with mercy because we are a peaceful political party," he added.

He therefore asked the general public to condemn Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo's voice and pray for the covenant keeping God for his divine protection.

A leaked audio circulating on social media and purported to be the voice of NDC’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo is creating ‘fear and panic’ ahead of the 2020 General elections.

The leaked tape which is believed to be from a meeting held at the NDC’s headquarters days after the infamous Ayawso West Wuogon by-election violence, captures leading members of the opposition party allegedly planning strategies the NDC will use to regain power in 2020.

National Chairman, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo, who could be heard speaking to some party members without equivocation, noted the NDC will target lives of NPP members in 2020 since state security cannot protect them.

According to him, another delicate aspect to win the 2020 election is targeting the EC Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa.

”We must wage a relentless war on this EC Chair, me she doesn’t want to see my face . . .” he told the party gathering.
