NDC Eastern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mark Oliver Kevor has waded into discussions regarding the purported leaked audio recording involving the NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo could be heard on the leaked tape making seditious comments about the EC Boss, Jean Mensa and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In what seems to be a meeting between him and some party members about the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo is reportedly heard on the tape saying the NDC will "wage a relentless war on this EC Chair" and also go after members of the governing party by the use of a "tactical operation to make life very uncomfortable for them. We will target some people and we will let the people know that their lives are in danger".
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has reportedly invited the NDC National Chairman for interrogation over the leaked tape.
Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Mark Oliver Kevor believed the leaked tape has been doctored to advance the motives of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
According to him, though the voice on the tape could be Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo's, there is no or little substantiation that the NDC National Chairman made those comments in such sequential order.
He explained that the sequence on the tape shows that it is not authentic and so called on the person who leaked the tape to provide evidence that the tape has not be altered to suit the NPP.
“We believe it’s fake. If the person says it’s not fake, then the person must prove why he thinks it’s not fake . . . That is what the NPP wanted to do, to take that attention away, because of what value is this tape?" he said.
He believed the NPP wants Ghanaians to concentrate on the leaked tape to divert their attention from the latest exposé on illegal mining (galamsey) by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
