2018 Pan African Republic Honorary Awards....UTV's Roger Quartey Honoured.

One of Ghana’s foremost Movie Director and producer was on Saturday, March 9, 2019, honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the movie industry in the country.

The PAN African Executives Awards Summits 2018 recognises and honours Africans who have made a great impact in media and the business world. The award show was held at the Accra International Conference centre with a tall list of the connoisseurs from different business backgrounds, Chief Executive Officers and more.

Mr Roger Quartey, CEO of Roger Q Productions was honoured as the Pan African Personality in Film Making.

Roger Quartey ventured into mainstream movie production in 1990 after starring in over 30 movies and working behind the scenes as a Production Manager. The first movie from the stables of Roger Q Productions was the hit maker Turn Me On. It featured Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Kofi Adjorlolo, Yvonne Nelson, Roselyn Ngissah, Beverly Afaglo, Ben Kwadey, Vivian Achor, Eddie Nartey, Omar De 1st, etc.

It did so well on the market that Roger returned to the set very quickly. A number of first time producers are not able to return on set because their movies do not do well on the market, but Roger overcame that unfortunate mark.

His "Turn Me On" movie was described as an ultimate game of wits with different themes. It explored love, greed, blackmail, hatred, betrayal, treasure and deceit, but at the end, goodness ruled. Its storyline was not just interesting, but perfect.

His second, an emotive tale of tragedy, pain and sorrow was titled "Death After Birth", and starred Jackie Appiah, Eddy Watson, Roselyn Ngissah, John Dumelo, Akorfa Ejeani Asiedu and Amanorbea Dodoo, among others.

He was intrumental in the Ghanaian-Nigerian collaboration which took the Ghanaian monvie industry by storm. As an ardent movie producer, Mr. Quartey has worked some industry palyers like Abdul Salam Mumuni, Ramsey Noah, Jim Ikes, Emeka Ike, Genevieve Nnaji, RMD, and some well known and world acclaimed Nigerian movie actors.

With his experience in the movie industry and having done some production work with some giant movie producers like Alexiboat and Venus films, he also the brain behind some local and international Television commercials and adverts.

With his interest in the movie industry, Mr Roger Quartey travelled to Europe to continue with his movie production just have the face of the Ghanaian movie industry Changed. whilst abroad, he worked with the likes of Eddy Nartey, Kareema and a host experienced actors across the globe.

Having carved a nitch for himself in the movie industry and TV production, Mr. Roger Quartey was in 2013 whilst domiciled aborad invited to join the new born baby of the Despite Group, United Television to bring his knowledge to bear as the head of productions.

With hard work he has now risen to the top as the Head of Programmes for the most watched Televsion station in the country, United Television.
