Don't Die For Politicians; Even Their Own Children Won't Demonstrate For Them - Samini Cautions Ghanaian Youth

Over the past few months, Ghanaian politics has descended to a dangerous place where violence has become somewhat normalized and the two biggest political parties, the NPP and NDC are all proud of flaunting their respective ‘vigilante’ groups.

In the midst of such chaos, veteran singer Samini has issued a warning to the youth of this country, calling on them not to be willing to kill themselves for politicians who don’t care about them.

In a recent interview with Class FM, Samini said even the children of politicians are not ready to demonstrate on their behalf, so the youth should not be ready to do so either.

“The youth must understand that this politician that you’re putting down your life for, have their own little family who will not come out and do a demonstration,” he said.

“The president’s daughters will not come out and demonstrate and wear party colours for their dad, but you will see thousands of hungry Ghanaians demonstrating.”

Samini went on to say that politicians give their kids the best education, the best of everything yet it is those of us suffering who spend our time fighting their battles.

“ . . Why are you the ordinary Ghanaian youth engaging in commotion in favour of a [politician] so that he and his family will be good, but when it’s death time, you’re the one going to die just for GHS50?

“That is so sad,” he said.
