Vigilantism Bill: Give Us Time To Engage CSOs, Police And Others - Inusah Fuseini Tells Speaker

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini says the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Aaron Mike Oquaye must not be in a ‘rush’ to pass the new vigilante Bill presented to Parliament by the Attorney General.

According to him, the Bill must be well looked at by other organizations before Parliament can conclude on it.

“We will plead with the Speaker to give us time so we engage other Civil Society Organizations, the Police, Peace Council among others,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

Parliament’s Committee on Constitution and Legal Affairs after considering the Vigilantism Bill has backed the Attorney-General’s request, for it to be passed under a certificate of urgency.

A Bill is deemed to be of an urgent nature when it need not be gazetted before being laid before Parliament. It can, however, be gazetted 24 hours or soon after it has been laid.
