<<Print>>The Chairman of the newly created Bono Region in the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC has urged Ghanaians to reject former President John Dramani Mahama and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 polls as they have ill intentions to collapse the flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy introduced by Akufo-Addo government.
According to Abronye DC, all the comments and statements by the opposition party pointing to the collapse of the flagship Free SHS programme.
“NDC will never improve upon good policies that will better the lives of every Ghanaian but will rather embark on moves to destroy good policies that seek to improve on the lives of Ghanaians. Former President Mahama and NDC has always been against Free SHS policy and will stop at nothing to collapse it if given the nod,” he said
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme, Abronye DC disclosed that the statement from the office of the former president debunking statement of the Vice president Mahamudu Bawumia that he (Mr. Mahama) has never been against Free SHS is untrue because Mr. Mahama has been against Free SHS since its inception by President Akufo Addo.
He quizzed that “is it not true that he (Mahama) also benefited from the Free SHS so what is it that the vice President said wrong"?
He averred that Ghanaians are expecting NDC and Mr. Mahama to make a vow on his position on the Free SHS policy as they fear Mr. John Dramani Mahama may reduce the number of student enroll on the program as the number keeps increasing every year.
"Mr. Mahama also said Free SHS is a misplace priority because even primary school children pay school fees so why should SHS be free…if you say this, then are you not against the free SHS policy”? he quizzed.
"NDC in their manifesto promised to review Free SHS and I think those people who opposed the Free SHS policy, if they come to power, they are [rather] going to review it. I suspect reviewing means collapsing it,” he stressed.
He added that he was very confident that the people of Ghana will not allow the Free SHS programme to be collapsed by keeping Mr. Mahama and NDC in opposition.
