Ghana's Nations Cup Team Handed Cash Boost

Telecommunication giants Glo have donated US$250,000 to the Ghana national team for finishing second at the recent Africa Cup of Nations. The injury-ravaged Ghanateam dominated mostly by young players lost 1-0 to Egypt in the final held inAngola last.The Black Stars defied allthe odds to reach the final which prompted Glo, who also sponsor the team, toreward the players. �We at Glo are very proudof what the Black Stars achieved at the tournament and today we give theUS$250,000,� Glo spokesman Bode Opesitan said. �Their performance hasbeen hailed by all and we feel we must reward them for a good work done. �This is only for theirshowing at the tournament and as they progress and do more we will definitelybe there every step of the way to support them.�The boss of the Ghana FAKwasi Nyantatyi says the Ghana national team will put up a better performanceat the 2010 World Cup. �The Black Stars showingin Angola shows that they can do better at the 2010 World Cup which means Glowill organise a bigger event for we return,� Nynatakyi. �Your (Glo) support forthe team has demonstrated the faith and confidence people have in the team. �We want to assureGhanaians that the sky is the limit for us and we will ensure to put in ourmaximum best at the World Cup.� Lee Addy, who was aregular defender for the Black Stars during the tournament, said they weredelighted with the support they have received since their return from thetournament.
