Thirty-One To Contest NPP Regional Executive Positions In Oti Region

A total of 31 candidates are aspiring for various executive positions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Oti Region.

Paa Swanzy-Essuman, Secretary to the Regional Elections Committee told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that a total of 136 delegates would be casting ballots after the Party's Extraordinary Delegates Conference.

He said all was set for the elections, with the Electoral Commission and security fully prepared to ensure a successful event.

Mr Swanzy-Essuman said delegates had also committed to the guiding principles of the election.

The conference is on the theme "Empowering Our Grassroots for Victory 2020" and would be chaired by Mr Michael Omari Wadie, National Vice Chairman of the Party who is also in charge of the Region's elections committee.

The Secretary called on delegates and supporters of the Party to keep the event free of violence, and elect their executives peacefully.

"This is not war. We need to elect our executives in peace", he said.

The conference comes off on Saturday May 18 at the Dambai College of Education from 1000 to 1700 hours.
