MUSIGA To Help Enhance Ghana�s Image

The Minister for Culture and Chieftaincy, Hon. Alex Asum-Ahensah, has disclosed that the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is among selected Institutions who participated in a one-day workshop organised by RICS Consult on Leveraging Ghana�s appearance at the 2010 World Cup. He added that at the Regional Level, the Union is being sponsored by the ECOWAS Member States in consultative meetings to define a working model that will interface ECOWAS in promoting regional integration and economic co-operation. This, he said, is against the background that the Union finds it necessary and ideal to play a leading role in using the up-coming World Cup as a launching pad to participate fully in promoting the cultural values of Ghana whiles opening avenues for other business opportunities. The Minister indicated that the �AFRICA AWAKE� Project is an event that seeks to project Africa as one people with shared interest as catalyst of growth for emerging economies. Before and beyond 2010, he said that the event seeks to drum support for their participating countries of the 2010 world cup from all across Africa and also strengthen the creative industries in creating awareness for the injection of capital into the industry with the highest growth in all economies. He emphasised the vision and True Freedom Organisation has established a working relationship with Music Industry Federation of South Africa (MIFSA) and the Creative Workers Union of South Africa (CWUSA). He also explained that the two leading bodies that regulate the creative sector in that country have access to a sponsorship package under FIFA through Sony, one of the main FIFA 2010 World Cup Partners.
