Enroll The Aged On NHIS-NPP Parliamentary Hopeful For Atwima Kwanwoma Appeals

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary hopeful for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Nana Owusu Acheampong has called on private individuals as well as corporate organizations to help to enroll the aged and the frail in the society on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

This, he noted will help these categories of people to access health care at the hospital using the NHIS platform.

Mr. Acheampong stressed in an interview with the media at Kokoben, a suburb in the district that it is important that all citizens no matter their ages are encouraged to be covered in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Accessing healthcare with the NHIS card, the Presidential Staffer said has become the order of the day since that provides the easy way to get treatment at the hospital.

‘’It is important that all persons especially the aged and widows are supported by both private individuals and corporate organizations to enroll in the NHIS so as to enable them access healthcare at the hospital with ease’’, Nana Owusu Acheampong posited.

REGISTRATION:

Two (200) hundred women predominantly the aged and widows were later in the day registered on the NHIS since that was a promise made by the NPP Parliamentary hopeful during the mother’s day celebration.

Funding the exercise, the native of Atwima who doubles as policy analyst indicated his desire to carry similar exercise for the aged men and others who may need to be on the NHIS platform.

Theresa Aidoo, a 60-year-old beneficiary commended the Mr. Owusu Acheampong for the gesture, noting that but for the exercise it would have been difficult for her to get an NHIS card to visit the hospital.

Sarah Oduro, a 50-year-old widow said she decided to make herself available for the exercise so she can possess the NHIS card to attend hospital at all times to access healthcare.

SKILLS TRAINING:

Mr. Acheampong hinted that there would be skills training for all residents of the community who are yet to be employed.

This project, he noted would be rolled out to give opportunities to persons who can use their talents in studying a trade or skill to do so.

The idea, he explained would be to harness the skill of residents to ensure they are supported to make a living out of what they learn during the program at the district.

‘’As a person who has benefitted from the opportunities I had from this community I am also giving back in the form of skills training to ensure those who have the interest to learn a trade or skill do so to become useful citizens’’, Nana Acheampong passionately hinted.
