Kingston To Be Handed Hearts Starting Role

Hearts manager Jim Jefferies has revealed that Laryea Kingston will not have to wait much longer to return to the Scottish side's starting XI. The Ghana international came off the bench in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Hamilton in the Scottish Premier League, his first involvement in the first team for two months after injury and a fall-out with previous boss Csaba Laszlo. The 29-year-old impressed in the 15 minutes or so he was on park after replacing Arvydas Novikovas, twice coming close to scoring and showing some nice touches in the middle of the park. JJ, who takes his team to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie this weekend, was pleased with Larry's contribution and indicated he could be tempted to hand him a starting berth in the near future. "We are short in a lot of areas with the personnel we have out at the moment so someone like Larry with the experience he has got is badly needed at this particular time and he should use that time," Jim told Hearts News. "He's assured us he wants to play for Hearts and we'll give him that opportunity. I'll know very quickly if he is sincere or not but looking at him yesterday, he has plenty to offer. "I don't think he's far away from starting a game. When you see his ability to hold the ball and pass it he might work out quite good for us." JJ also had a special word of praise for the supporters for the reception they gave the midfielder on his return to action against the Accies. "He got a good reception when he came on and they didn't turn on him," said Jim. "I asked them to give him their support before the match and I think the fans have trusted me to say it's a clean slate for him. "Everyone was raving about him when the club first signed him and all the managers thought he was a decent player and one to watch. If we can get him back to that level of performance he could be a big asset for us between now and the end of the season. "Whatever happened is in the past but if he does it now that will be his chance gone."
