All set for Coca Cola U-17 tourney in Cape Coast

All is set for the Coca Cola Under-17 soccer tournament in Cape Coast to select the Central Region's sole representative for the national competition. All the eight participating teams, according to information reaching GNA Sports have since intensified their training schedules ahead of the three-day competition. The competition, according to the organisers will span from February 25 to 27, with veteran coaches Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie and Oti Akenten as the main facilitators. The regional participating teams are Agonaman FC, Adom FC, Oguaa United, Friends Babies, Royal Stars, Paa Badu, Soccer Intellectuals and Soccer Pioneers. Unlike the other regions where two clubs were selected for the national championship, the Central Region's version is expected to provide only one club for the national championship scheduled for the El Wak Stadium, Accra in April this year. Mr Tony Cheneboah, Operations and Marketing Officer of Coca-Cola Company Limited in an interview with GNA Sports said that, "with just a slot for grabs, we are expecting a keen competition in the Central Region". "We have learnt very useful lessons in previous tournaments and the Cape Coast version will see more improvements". He stated. So far Anokye Stars and Corners Babies from the Ashanti, Ultimate Soccer Academy from the Eastern Region, West Cedars FC - Volta Region and Manchester United and Schalke FC - Greater Accra are on standby as they await the winners from the Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions for the final showdown at the El-Wak Stadium, Accra from April 6 to 9. At stake for the Central Region showpiece is a special cash prize, certificates, plagues, trophies and Coca-Cola products.
