Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has strongly said that the NDC Parliamentary Candidates who will be elected on Saturday, 24th August, 2019 will be the choice of the NPP.

According to him, the NPP chose the polling station executives for the opposition NDC including their Presidential Candidate, former President John Mahama; as such the NDC Parliamentary Primaries will not be different especially those going unopposed in the 74 Constituencies.

He said the NPP will make sure the NDC do not choose candidates who will not help the ruling party.

"We are following the Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC keenly. In the Ashanti Region, we know the NDC want 41 Constituencies to go unopposed and in the whole Ghana, they want to make 74 Constituencies unopposed . . . we will choose the kind of candidates we want for them in order for us to win the 2020 elections coupled with the good work of Nana Akufo-Addo,” he asserted.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Chairman Wontumi maintained that he has always helped the NDC to select their candidates.

"If you are able to choose the leaders for your opponents, whatever you say, they will listen . . . from their polling station election, I told you that I will help them choose their leaders, and the same thing happened in their Constituency election, as well as their Regional Executive election. If you will remember I said that Yamin will not win . . . their National Executive election, we chose the leaders and again their Presidential Candidate,” he claimed.

He disclosed that as the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, he sleeps and wake up with all the NDC Executives and the Parliamentary Aspirants in his territory.
