Abetifi & Nkwatia Emerge Winners In BAF Community Tournament

It was all fun and cheering at the Kotoso community park as various teams goaded their community heros to glory.

 The much-anticipated Bryan Acheampong Foundation (BAF) Football and Volleyball Tournament, featuring community teams from Kotoso, Aduamoa, Abetifi, Pepease, Hweehwee and Nkwatia in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region was got the whole town of Kotoso going agog with the outcomes of the contests.

The Abetifi volleyball team, who were crowned winners, came from a set down, to beat the Nkwatia volleyball team by three set to two.

Although the Nkwatia team won the first set by 25 to 21 points, the giants from Abetifi got their pace into gear strongly, thereby winning the second set by 25 to 22 points.

Townspeople and team members could not hide their joy as the Abetifi team was presented with the volleyball gala prize of a Trophy, a set of Jersey and volleyball. Nkwatia, the second-placed team, also took home a set of Jersey and volleyball.

 Kotoso team who placed third, had volleyball, all other teams received volleyball. At the football semi-final stage, Nkwatia, Pepease, Abetifi, and Kotoso went head-to-head with Nkwatia and Pepease qualifiying to the finals while Kotoso were to beat Abetifi by a lone goal for the third place, winning a football.

The final duel saw a very heated game for the ultimate prize of a trophy and a set of jersey which eventually went to Nkwatia after beating Pepease by a lone goal. However, Pepease walked home majestically with a jersey and football for placing second.

The Programme Manager, Health and Sport at the Bryan Acheampong foundation, Mr. Hilary Konadu Awuah, expressed excitement at the opportunity to engage the communities in ways that indentify and develop talents.
