Ive Paid My Dues'

The outgoing National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Mac Manu, has outlined his achievements as National Chairman of the party. I am proud to say that Ive paid my dues as national chairman of our great party for the past four years I have been in charge, Mr Mac Manu stated whilst officially opening the NPP national delegates conference themed Reflect, Rebuild and Recapture in Kumasi on Saturday. He mentioned some of his momentous achievements as the successful revision of the partys constitution and which paved way for the expansion of the Electoral College and the introduction of the polling station manual. The former Western Regional Chairman of the party also talked about his successful holding of elections in all the 121,000 polling stations in the country to elect officers for the party. Mr Mac Manu stated that his successful election as Vice Chairman of the Democratic Union of Africa (DUA) in 2008 has made the NPP a household name in African politics. He however disclosed that his greatest regret as National Chairman was his inability to retain the party in power, stressing that he has taken full responsibility for the defeat. The out-gone National Chairman observed that, had the party stayed in office, the prevailing economic hardship would not have been witnessed, indicating that the fortunes of the country would have changed tremendously. Mr Mac Manu said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) was struggling to government the country because it came to power through lies, deceit and propaganda. Nothing that the NPP needs to rededicate itself in order to come back to power in 2012, the out-gone National Chairman entreated the newly-elected executives to place priority on unity.
