John Terry Will Not Captain England Again - Fabio Capello

England manager Fabio Capello has revealed that John Terry is training well and has adjusted to the idea of no longer being Three Lions skipper, even though there is little likelihood of his ever being handed the captain's role again. The Chelsea star was stripped of the captaincy following the recent tabloid revelations concerning his private life, the same matters that have seen Wayne Bridge feel compelled to end his England career last week. "He knows that he will not be captain and it's normal," Capello confirmed at a press conference. "He is like the other players. He's training very well. He will be the same player in the dressing room. "I spoke with him and told him 'you must do the same things like a captain'." However, Capello also confirmed that it was unlikely that Terry would ever skipper his national side again. "I think no," the Italian replied when asked about that possibility. "I think the next captain will be Rio when we are here. For tomorrow [a friendly against Egypt] the captain will be Steven Gerrard. Capello has of course changed his mind in the past, most notably whilst coach at Real Madrid, where David Beckham's good form forced him to rethink his views on playing the England midfielder. A change of mind regarding Terry though seems unlikely. "It's different things," he explained. "My decision on David Beckham was a technical decision. This is not a technical decision." The Italian was also unconcerned that Bridge and Terry had not shaken hands ahead of Chelsea's weekend home defeat to Manchester City. He said: "It's a private problem. It's not my problem." The chance of Bridge returning to the squad should he change his mind is still there though. "The door for a lot of players is always open, and if Wayne Bridge wants to come back then the door is always open. "Not only for him. But for [Michael] Owen too. We are monitoring all the players." Meanhwile, Capello also confirmed that Wayne Rooney is in good shape and trained with the rest of the Three Lions squad ahead of Wednesday night's friendly with Egypt at Wembley. The Manchester United striker had picked up a bruised knee during his club's League Cup final win on Sunday but it is not severe enough to keep him sidelined. "[There are] no problems. He's training with the other players for half an hour after he did different things," Capello confirmed. "He was shooting at the goal a lot. He's really good. He will be ready for tomorrow."
