Ghana FA Boss Backs Balotteli Chase Snub

The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi has backed the call by coach Milovan Rajevac to call off the chase of striker Mario Barwuah Balotelli. The African nation hoped to persuade the Internazionale striker to play for them at the World Cup. Although Balotelli is a regular for the Italian national side at Under-21 level, his biological parents are Ghanaian which would make him eligible for selection. However, the Black Stars have been rebuffed by the promising youngster on two previous occasions and Rajevac said he wont make the mistake of asking him for a third time.Nyantakyi said the authorities have done their best to convince the talented youngster but the chase must end. "We did our best to convince him (Balotteli) to play for Ghana because he is a talented player," Nyantakyi said."You can force the horse to go the the river but you can't force it to drink. So we have to concentrate on committed players." Ghana have been placed in a tough World Cup group where they face former champions Germany, Serbia and Australia.
