Kotoko beat Edubiase 2-0 in Premier League

Kumasi Asante Kotoko chalked a 2-0 victory over New Edubiase F/C in their outstanding mid-week Glo Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi. Kotoko started the match on a serious note after referee William Agbovi whistled for hostilities to begin. They exerted series of forays on the visitors with Ganiyu Haruna and Baffour Gyan wasting begging opportunities in the 6th and 17th minutes respectively. New Edubiase came into the picture from the 22nd minute but a chance that came their way was wasted by Nuhu Alhassan. The Porcupine Warriors continued to dominate the game but lack of understanding between the attackers eluded them of the opener. With their pride at stake, Coach Paa Kwasi Fabian pulled out Francis Akwaffo for Daniel Nii Adjei in the 56th minute and Kwadwo Poku for Osei Kwame a minute later to strengthen the attack. In the 65th minute Kotoko's Alex Asamoah obstructed Edubaise's goalkeeper before pushing the ball into the net but it was disallowed. With the heat on the visitors Asamoah managed to break the deadlock in the 67 minute from a Haruna's inswinger. Substitute Kwabena Yaro made it two for Kotoko in the 81st minute with a perfect low grounder to seal the doom of Edubiase FC.
