David Beckham: I Hope Man U Win The Champions League

Milan midfielder David Beckham hopes that Manchester United go on to win the Champions League this season. The Italian club were recently humbled at Old Trafford by the Red Devils, when the two sides met in the second leg of the Round of 16 in the European competition. Goals from Darren Fletcher, Park Ji-Sung, and Wayne Rooney (two) ensured that Sir Alex Ferguson's charges ran out 7-2 winners on aggregate, booking a place in the quarter-finals of the continent's biggest club competition. Following the defeat, the Rossoneri midfielder wished his former club, United, nothing but success in the competition. "When you get knocked out of a competition you kind of hope that the team that knocks you out goes all the way," Beckham told the press. "I really hope they go all the way." The 34-year-old former Real Madrid player was spotted wearing a green and gold scarf as he made his way off the pitch, but distanced himself from the fans who were protesting the ownership of the club by wearing similar scarves. "I'm a Man United fan," he said. "I saw the scarf there. I put it round my neck, it's the old colours of Man United, that's all I knew. "To be honest it's [the protest] not my business. I'm a Manchester United fan. I support the club. I always have done and I always will do. It's nothing to do with me the way everything is run, that's to do with other people but I'm a Man United fan and I support the team. I will always support them."
