I Want To Emulate Beckham - Rooney

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is keen to hit the same Old Trafford heights as Reds legend David Beckham did during his time at the club. Rooney was in great form for United against Beckham's current side AC Milan at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, scoring twice as the Red Devils recorded a comprehensive 7-2 aggregate victory over the Italian side. Beckham received a warm reception from the United supporters and Rooney hopes that one day he will be held in similarly high regard. "David Beckham was a great servant for this club and we were all delighted with the reception," said the striker, according to Sky Sports. "I have plenty of years ahead of me but if I can get half the plaudits he has I will be very happy." Rooney has managed to hit 30 goals already this season, with many of them headers, an area of his game the forward claims he has worked hard on. He would like to go beyond Cristiano Ronaldo's tally of 42 for the Red Devils two seasons ago, and has an interesting take on why he is enjoying so much success with his head in front of goal. "I am delighted with 30 goals. Hopefully I can kick on from here and try to get more," he added. "It's coming off my bald patch and that's helping me score! "I have been working on my heading a lot and thankfully it's paying off."
