FIFA Is Set To Introduce African Schools Football Championship This Year

For the very first time in Africa, FIFA is introducing a schools football championship which is a Forward Funding project.

This competition will be organized for Senior High Schools for both boys and girls across the continent.

The competition is set to begin in July 2020 where each country will present two best schools for a Zonal championship.

The two best schools from the each Zone will then square off for the continental championship to be hosted by Benin later in 2020.

This laudable initiative was revealed in Kinshasa, DR Congo where a FIFA Forward Funding workshop is being held.

FIFA is launching this competition in collaboration with the schools federation to help grow football in Africa.

Many of the current African stars played in school competitions before reaching the apex of their careers.

The continental competition will serve an opportunity to discover more than just footballers.
