Herbert Mensah Has Insulted NDC Delegates - Stan Dogbe

An aide to President Mills, Stanislav Dogbe has strongly dismissed the claim that Gh90 million Ghana to be used for President Mills campaign to enable him win the flagbearership slot of the NDC. Mr Dogbe described the allegation made by the former football administrator, Herbert Mensah and also a close friend of ex-President Rawlings, as a political joke and "an insult" to the delegates of the ruling National Democratic Congress". Mr Mensah, on Tuesday May 10 alleged on radio that President Mills campaign team plans to use about Gh 90 million to fund his campaign for the flag bearer of the NDC. Mr. Mensah claimed he and former President Rawlings discovered after listening to security tapes obtained from the Castle. He provided no further details, but has stated that at the appropriate time they will come out with the full details. A day later, President Mills in an interview with Asempa FMs Bobie Ansah dismissed the claim insisting that with his victory at the Sunyani national delegates congress seemingly not in doubt, there was no need to waste such a huge amount of money on his campaign. President Mills has since ordered the National Security apparatus to open a full scale investigation into the allegation and bring the truth to light. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, on Thursday, Mr Stan Dogbe warned the opposition New Patriotic Party to stop highlighting the issue since no shred of evidence has been provided by Mr Herbert Mensah to substantiate his claim. The interest that the NPP has taken in this matter is towards the angle that maybe it is some money coming from somewhere. If it is, he(President Mills) would rather spend it on the road networks...this is a joke and it is indeed an insult to the delegates of the NDC for anybody to suggest that the President would go and look for huge sums of money to prosecute his campaigns. Also speaking on the same programme, a former National Youth Organiser of the opposition NPP, John Boadu, maintained that members of the NDC should not be quick in dismissing the allegation. According to him, the National Security office must follow due process and critically investigate the matter to ensure that the truth is unraveled. He called on the President Mills campaign team to disclose the budget earmarked for the Get Atta Mills Endorsed agenda.
