Mills Is Incorruptible Says National Security Advisor

National Security Advisor, Brigadier General (rtd) Nunoo Mensah has confirmed to PeaceFM that his outfit will certainly invite self-acclaimed radical individual and close associate of the Rawlingses, Herbert Mensah to substantiate allegations that an amount of GH90 million, ostensibly withdrawn from national coffers, has been set aside for Mills campaign for flagbeareship of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). But even before the said investigations gathers momentum, Brig Nunoo Mensah has absolved the President from blame saying Prof Mills is incorruptible though his outfit will not rest until they get to the bottom of the allegations leveled against him (Mills). It would be recalled that the CEO of X-fm (an Accra-based private radio station) and former Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah, on Monday, May 9th, disclosed to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peacefms flagship programme, Kokrokoo that he is privy to security tapes implicating the Mills campaign team in bribery and intimidating tactics. According to him, in the said security tape an amount of GH90 million campaign budget for the Mills' team was highlighted. clearly if it was an expanded electoral base she (Mrs Rawlings) would win hands down. In the context of where we are going in which there are so many rumours and accusations, I just got back from Kumasi and pick up security tapes from there which suggest that millions of cedis are being transferred for this purposes; were hearing of budgets of GH80 or 90million plus to ensure she does not make itso theres a whole suggestion of a machinery in place to ensure that the delegates succumb to levels of financial and other intimidation which obviously govt may deny. But I sat with 10-15 delegatesand quite clearly not all is straight, Herbert Mensah told Sefa Kayi. But speaking on the same platform on Thursday, the National Security Advisor said President Mills can never be involved in bribery because he is incorruptible, stressing that if there is one person he can vouch for with his life; it is President Mills. I know Mills can never do such a thing, if I am to defend one person apart from myself, he is the one person I will stick my neck out for and affirm that he is incorruptible. This can never happen so I have to see to the bottom of this, he said. According to him, people cannot just make sweeping statements or wild allegations and get away with it, adding that his outfit will go for the tape and subject it to forensic study so they can identify the source (s). Before President Mills asked that we get to the bottom of the matter, I had already begun investigating because you cant bandy such wild allegations about and go scot free. If he claims he has a tape to that effect, it will be the simplest investigation I have ever conducted in my entire life; he will provide the tape and play it to our hearing, so its not a big dealI am challenging him to play the tape to simplify matters so we know whose voice is on the tape, he added. Brigadier General (rtd) Nunoo Mensah said his outfit has been trying to get hold of the former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive but to no avail (he -Herbert- together with General Arnold Quainoo is in Addis Ababa with former President Rawlings for an AU Panel of the WISE Meeting). He further stressed his outfit will not countenance any excuse that because of strategic or security reasons the tape cannot be produced. Kwami, the tape must be playedso that we can identify the person (or group of persons) planning to bribe delegates, he insisted.
