Asamoah Gyan Talks Retirement

Former captain of the Ghanaian national football team Asamoah Gyan, says he is not retiring any time soon.

Gyan, who currently plays for NorthEast United in the Indian Super League, has been out for a while due to injury.

There have been reports that the 34-year-old is thinking of retirement but the striker has debunked such notions.

“It looks like people want to retire me but I’m not done yet. I had a couple of injuries but I’m getting back to full fitness. I’m now OK and feel good in my body. I’ve added a bit of weight that I have to work on and get back to shape”, Gyan told Juliet Bawuah in an interview.

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals.

He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

With six goals, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.

Gyan has also represented Ghana in eight Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019, helping them finish in third place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
