FDA Explains Unannounced Visit To COA FS Factory

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), James Lartey has emphatically stated that his official press release issued to retrieve all products of COA FS from the market was due to an unannounced inspection exercise embarked on at the drug manufacturing facility in Cape Coast.

"They took a sample of the medicines from the factory to the laboratory and after analysis indicated some problems related to the drug in question," he revealed.

To him, his outfit visited the manufacturing centre due to information recently heard about the medicine as curing HIV and COVID-19 when that was not the certificate given it from FDA.

"We visited the manufacturing sites unannounced because there were a lot of rumors that we needed answers to."

"We wanted to see for ourselves what exactly goes on there and if the right thing was done... we realized different things altogether...making the product unfit for human use of which we made them aware of it....and they agreed and promised to ensure that the wrong is corrected," he disclosed to UTV.
