COVID-19: Dusaf Feeds The Aged And Less Privileged In Accra

Dynamic United Stars Africa Foundation (Dusaf) a non- governmental organization has extended support to four communities in Accra in the fight against COVID-19.

The team, as part of its humanitarian project distributed packaged food items and bottles of hand sanitizers to about 300 aged and vulnerable persons at Madina, Spintex, Nungua, and Teshie.

Ms. Deborah Oduro, President of Dusaf, said the exercise was in line with the foundation’s goal of eradicating hunger, hence the move to provide relief to less privileged persons as efforts were being made to curb the COVID-19 disease.

“We seek to eradicate poverty in Ghana and beyond through the provision of food, healthcare, and infrastructure. Considering the health crisis, we face, we decided to collaborate with our sponsors to help reduce the burden on the aged and those with little or no source of income.

“Our initiative is to motivate and assure them that all is not lost even though current situations appear gloomy,” she said.

Dusaf, during the tour, also sensitised the public on the need to abide by health and safety protocols meant to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

“The ban on social gathering should be observed. Individuals and groups should not disregard the advice on social distancing. Effective handwashing and the use of hand sanitisers are all meant to keep us safe from the pandemic,” the President noted.

While calling on other corporate bodies to support the Dusaf initiative, Ms Oduro also praised individuals and groups observing the directive on compulsory wearing of nose masks.

“We must continue to observe the nose mask protocol and all other health advice provided by experts to reduce the risk of contracting the disease,” she stressed.

The package included rice, sardines, cooking oil, loaves of bread, soft drinks, eggs, among others – beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the Dusaf gesture.
