Kwaku Sakyi Addo Bows Out!

Theres an African proverb that says all journeys will lead you to where you started from. Perhaps better than others, this proverb best encapsulates Kwaku Sakyi-Addos nearly 30-year love affair with journalism. Beginning 14th May 2011, ace journalist and host of Joy Fms News and analysis program Newsfile, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, will retire from professional media practice. Although his retirement was to be expected, the pangs of this separation have not been numbed by its inevitability. Fourteen years of his illustrious career have been in serving with Joy FM, much of which have been as host of current affairs talk program The Frontpatge. As a gifted communicator, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo brought great depth and professional gravitas to the show. His patented throat-clearing stints became part of his signature on his programs, provoking much awe and excitement in his audiences. A trait that left listeners and viewers spellbound were his agility with words, crafting and weaving them as though he was weaving a basket. In many regards, Kwaku stands out among his contemporaries, not the least of which is his ability to simplify the most intricate matters of development into simple soluble themes, making his interviews an immediate catch-on for listeners of all categories. Kwaku will spend his last working hours as journalist hosting Newsfile on Joy FM and Multi TV tomorrow. A bird has whispered into some ears that Kwaku has landed a very lucrative job as CEO of a company. For many reasons, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo will be missed within media circles. And for much more, he will not be forgotten. To paraphrase the words of former CNN talk show host Larry King, Kwaku Sakyi-Addo is a great broadcaster.
