'Sacking' Jon Germain, KOD Extremely Unfair; EIB Network Must Talk Now! - Okraku Mantey

President of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey says the management of the Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) Network should come clear on the termination of employment of two of their most cherished staff, Jon Germain and Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD).

Two of the powerful voices and familiar faces of the EIB Network and in the media fraternity, Jon Germain and KOD days ago exited the family of EIB sending strong signals that the two media personalities may have been laid off instead of the picture looks like they ended their employment contract on a mutual basis.

Following reports that the two renowned Presenters didn't resign but were sacked, ears have been itching to hear the reasons for the sack.

Taking in account the pedigree of Jon Germain and KOD, and rumours that they were sacked for ganging up against the leadership of the network, which some have described as a media coup d'état, Mark Okraku Mantey believes EIB Network owes the general public an explanation.

Since people tend to believe what they hear and in this age of social media where anything is circulated for public consumption, Mr Okraku Mantey decided to give people interested in the Jon Germain and KOD issue a true account of what transpired between them and the leadership of EIB, resulting in the termination of their employment.

He hinted that Jon Germain and KOD were ''sacrificed'' by the management and that the story about they trying to cause a revolt at the station is mere hogwash.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Entertainment Review' program Saturday, the Creative Arts Council President who doubles as a Music Producer and General Manager at Hitz FM claimed that what many believe to be a coup d'état by Jon Germain and KOD was actually a WhatsApp group setup.

He explained the Chief Executive Officer of EIB Network, Bola Ray, and the aforementioned Presenters created a WhatsApp group to monitor proceedings and comments in the group with the aim to secretly find out who is for or against management.

He continued that it was apparently, the group members had poured their anxieties on the WhatsApp platform which appear to have gone against the management who in turn chose to vent their anger on the two Presenters resulting in the abrupt termination of their contracts.

Mark Okraku Mantey, who is privy to insider information, expressed disappointment in the management of EIB for turning around on KOD and Jon Germain and what bothers him the more is the speculations over their sack.

He noted that the Presenters didn't to plot anything against the leadership of the station and so their former employers have mistreated them because they have sacrificed a lot for EIB Network to the extent that even during the organization's financial drought when workers were not remunerated for months and some left the station, these Presenters remained loyal to the core and held on to the station.

Mark Okraku Mantey admonished EIB Network to respond to the issues and clear the names of these Presenters because the long-held silence of the management is ruining the solid image, reputation and brand of Jon Germain and his colleague KOD.

"The reason I'm saying they've not treated them well is that I'm very close with Jon Germain. I know what he's been through in the past months all in the name of protecting where you work just like I will protect multimedia any day any time. And so if the person has waited through the storm, of course, when they exit . . . it is likely that people will write about them because they have equity in the industry. They're not ordinary people . . . I think that leadership of EIB, by this time, should have come out to speak because the boys have sacrificed enough for that business . . . EIB must come back and dent the young men brand that they tried to do a coup," he stressed.
