All Set For NPP Parliamentary Primaries - Bono Regional Secretary

All is set for delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect parliamentary candidates on Saturday, June 20, for the Election 2020 on December 7, said Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng, the Bono Regional Secretary of the NPP.

Speaking on behalf of his two other colleagues for the Bono East and Ahafo Regions in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday in Sunyani, Mr. Boateng said peace, unity and sense of purpose were the necessary operational factors needed before, during and after the polls.

“It must be a win for the Party but not for any candidate, so that we will come out more united than before,” he stated.

The three regions has a total 39 candidates but Bono has 25 out of that for its 11 slots which are Sunyani East and West, Berekum East and West, Jaman North and South, Wenchi, Tain, Dormaa East, Dormaa West and Dormaa Central, Mr. Boateng said.

There are eight candidates vying for five seats - Techiman North and South, Nkoranza North and South and Atebubu-Amanten in the Bono East, he indicated.

Mr. Boateng explained the Ahafo Region currently has four MPs but nine candidates were contesting for four seats –Tano North and South, Asutifi North and Asunafo North.

In the Bono Region, four candidates for the Sunyani West, Berekum West, Dormaa West, Dormaa Central and Jaman North were going uncontested.

The remaining six seats’ candidates were – Sunyani East, two, Berekum East, four, Jaman South, three, Dormaa East, three, Tain, three and Wenchi, Five.

Two candidates for the Techiman South and Atebubu-Amanten were contesting unopposed, but Techiman North, Nkoranza South and Nkoranza North have two candidates each.

The Ahafo Region has two unchallenged candidates for the Tano North and south but Asutifi North, four and Asunafo North, three.

Each of the three regions has only one female candidate with Mrs. Freda Prempeh for Tano North, Mrs. Tina Abrefa-Gyan, Wenchi and Madam Jacqueline Boatemaa Bonsu, Nkoranza North.
