Abrahene To Build Sports Academy For Akuapem

A Ghanaian-born American football star, Ezekiel Nana Ansah, has pledged to build a sports academy for the people of Akuapem in the Eastern Region.
He made this pledge prior to his enstoolment as Abrahene of the Akuapem Traditional Council at an elaborate ceremony at Akuapem over the weekend.

In accordance with tradition, his enstoolment, which was supervised by the Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwesi Akuffo II, began with a brief initiation of Ezekiel Ansah into the Akuapem traditional family which was done by the chief linguist of Aboasa, Okyeame Gyan Kwadade.

After the initiation, the rasta-haired footballer was then presented to the paramount chief, Oseadeeyo Kwesi Akuffo II, who gave him the stool name Abrahene(chief sports advisor) Nana Ansah.

Speaking to the media later, he pledged to use his new position to develop sports in the community.

"I see this as an opportunity to reconnect with my history and heritage to give back to the community where I come from,” he stated.
He pledged to mobilize his efforts and those of others both local and international to make Akropong Akuapem the hotbed of sports in the Eastern Region.
"There are a lot of sporting talents in Akropong-Akuapem and I intend to harness them all to the benefit of the people and Ghana as a country," he noted.
He expressed gratitude to the people of Akropong and Oseadeeyo Kwesi Akuffo II for the honour done him and promised never to disappoint them.
