Konadu Boy Escapes Attack From Mills Macho Men

The Ashanti Regional Coordinator of political support group, Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR), has alleged that he was nearly attacked by supporters of President Mills on Friday May 13. Rashid Alhassan claims heavily built men besieged the studios of Ash FM, a Kumasi-based radio station, apparently to beat him up after a late night political talk show, on which he had represented the camp of Mrs. Konadu Rawlings. The incident comes after countless allegations of intimidation and bribery by the Camp of the former First Lady. Mr. Rashid Alhassan told Citi News he could have been lynched had the police not intervened to escort him out of the radio station. According to Mr. Alhassan, he bumped into the macho men after he had come out of the studio. He said the men were discussing his identity so they could attack him since they could not put a face immediately to his voice. Sensing danger, he run back into the studios to inform the managers of the station, who called in police officers to escort him out. It is not clear what comment Mr. Alhassan may have made to warrant the failed attack, but he told Citi News he had only advised NDC delegates to vote conscientiously for Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and not anyone who was giving them bribes. He suspects this is what may have angered the macho men. But the Get Atta Mills Endorsed Team (GAME) says it doubts Mr. Rashid Alhassans claims. The Spokesperson for GAME, Barbara Asamoah, told Citi News FONKAR is only fabricating alarmist stories to court sympathy from delegates at the forthcoming presidential primaries in Sunyani.
