NPP To Contact Former Majority Leader Over Decision To Go Independent

Mr. Perry Okudjeto, the Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disclosed the partys readiness to make amends with disgruntled party member and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West, Abraham Osei Aidoo over his decision to contest as an independent candidate. He was speaking on XFMs morning show the big bite with Abena Asiedua Tenkorang in the hot seat sitting inn for regular host Emefa Apawu. Mr. Osei Aidoo, had stated after the NPP primaries that the party needs to be reformed because corrupt executives have taken over stating that it is his desire to see a transformation in the party that has informed his decision to contest as an independent candidate I have decided to contest as an independent candidate and bear the consequences. ..There is no truth now in the NPP, only dishonesty, corruption, and personal aggrandizementI know the price I will pay; I know what I will lose but I have decided to go independent and I know the party will be reformed from today, he had said. But Mr. Okudjeto explained that the all hands on deck tour under the leadership of the partys flag bearer Nana Akufo Addo is to solidarize with everybody, bring losers and winners alike on-board and that one key factor on the tour is to get campaign managers outline structures that will help execute the NPP campaign towards victory 2012. He, however, finds Mr. Aidoos stance very weird since he did not officially pick forms to contest the partys parliamentary primaries in the Tema West Constituency in the just ended party primaries nationwide. He continued that, the leadership of the party had provided a level playing field for all members in the just ended primaries and that Mr. Aidoos decision to go independent is a personal one and if anyone else wants to do the same, it will be respected by the party after all efforts to get him to rescind his decision fails on Monday May 16 when the leadership meet in the Greater Accra region as part of the tour. On the constituencies yet to hold their parliamentary primaries, he stated that the party has not set any date for now but after the tour, we will speak with the constituencies affected and faction out times to hold those elections, he concluded.
