Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon Joseph Albert Quarm on Wednesday July 7, 2020 was ushered into office as the new chairman for Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Foundation.

Addressing the gathering for his inauguration as the new chairman for KNUST Foundation, Hon Joseph Albert Quarm assured the University Council that appointed him into the high office that he and his Board members will deliver the purpose for which they were appointed.

He added that the Board for the KNUST Foundation will rise to the occasion in their service to the country, pledging to work assiduously for the immediate benefit of the University.

The New Chairman for KNUST Foundation however expressed concern for the absence of a woman on the Board to balance the work of the Board with some fine feminine perspectives.

He therefore pleaded with the University Council and the Vice-Chancellor to either appoint or give the Board a mandate to appoint a woman to join KNUST Foundation as the Board comprises of only men.

The MP for Manso Nkwanta Constituency who also serves as a Board member of Minerals Commission again pleaded with the University Council and the entire student population for their prayers and support to deliver their mandate.

He averred that the mandate of the KNUST Foundation is to raise funds locally and internationally to support infrastructural development and the provision of the needed equipment in the training of all those who find it worthy to apply to study in the University and also to promote research of staff and scholars.

He stressed that no effort will be spared to provide the most conducive environment for teaching, learning and research geared towards the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of communities in Ghana and beyond.

“This is very important and the reason this is so is that this University envisions to be among the top ten universities in Africa and more so because it is a science and technology institution, no effort should be spared to provide the most conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research geared towards the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of our communities in Ghana and beyond”, he stated.

He indicated that the mandate of the Board for the KNUST Foundation is two years and so within the two years the Board will develop strategies in line with the university to source for funding for the infrastructural operations of the university.
