NPP-USA, a branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, made a cash donation of GHC100,000 to support Ghana's fight against COVID-19.

The Branch also presented a cash donation of US$5000 (GHC30,000) to the Ghanaians and Friends of Ghana Against COVID-19, a fundraising campaign by the Embassy of Ghana in the USA, aimed at raising money to support the fight against COVID-19.

The Party's Branch Chairperson, Mrs. Obaa Yaa Frimpong, made the donation on behalf of the Branch when she visited the COVID-19 Trust Fund Secretariat.

Speaking to the media after brief ceremony, Obaa Yaa Frimpong explained the need for the party to engage in nonpartisan nation building efforts.

We have a duty as patriotic citizens to come to the aid of the country in times of global crisis like this one. There are times where we must put our differences aside and rather put the nation first. This contribution is our way of saying that, the fight against covid-19 is a collective one, and not a partisan one", the Branch Chairperson of NPP-USA intimated."

The Chairperson also commended frontline workers and called for expedited testing. "Our healthcare workers, particularly those in the frontline are risking their lives on a daily basis. We commend their efforts and call for more financial support from other groups to help in this fight. As it stands, we also need to improve on the turnaround time of testing to help us know who has the disease so we can expedite contact tracing where necessary.

She also craves the indulgence of all community leaders to be part of the advocates of strict compliance to the Covid-19 protocols by all and sundry.

“The Government has shown leadership in this fight, but we are not out of the woodwork. We all have a duty to come together so we can fight this disease collectively", she added.
