Deputy Maj. Chief Whip Asks About 'Missing' Mintah Akandoh In Parliament Over COVID-19 Fears

Trobu MP and Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Hon. Moses Anim has raised a concern about his fellow Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh's absence in the August House for the past two weeks.

Mintah Akandoh ‘missing’

He claims the Minority Spokesperson on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh who has been quizzical on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s decision to self-isolate has gone ‘missing’ amid allegations that he has been exposed to the virus.

“The person accusation President Nana Addo of having the virus himself cannot be found in parliament for the past two weeks. So, should I conclude that he has the virus and on self-isolation?” he questioned.

Minority demands clarity on Akufo-Addo’s 14-day self-isolation

The Minority in Parliament has questioned the grounds on which the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been advised to go into self-isolation after exposure to someone with COVID-19.

According to the Minority, it wonders why the President was directed to self-isolate if reports suggest he has not tested positive for the virus.

In a statement, Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said the announcement of the President embarking on a two-week self-isolation over Coronavirus scare contradicts public health infection management.

Myopic, nocuous, dirty politics

The Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Moses Anim who was speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ rubbished the Minority’s claims that President Nana Akufo-Addo has tested positive for COVID-19.

He told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyemang that the NDC is practicing “myopic”, “nocuous” and “dirty” politics.

“The President followed the health protocol established by the WHO, Ghana Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service,” he backed the President’s decision to self-isolate.
