COVID-19 National Trust Fund Urges Ghanaians To Make More Donations

The COVID-19 National Trust Fund has appealed to individuals, organizations and the entire nation to keep donating into the fund to support President Nana Akufo-Addo's vision of fighting against the deadly coronavirus.

The President on Sunday, 29th March 2020, inaugurated the Board of Trustees of the COVID-19 National Trust Fund at Jubilee House, the seat of the nation’s Presidency.

The Trustees are tasked to receive contributions and donations from the public to assist in the welfare of the needy and the vulnerable.

The Board of Trustees of Trust Fund is chaired by former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo.

Members of the Board are Archbishop Justice Ofei Akrofi, Mr Jude Kofi Bucknor, Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, Mrs Elsie Addo-Awadzie, Chief Executive Officer of Special Group of Companies Dr Ernest Ofori-Sarpong and Dr Tanko. Mr Collins Asare who acts as Secretary to the Board.

Speaking on behalf of the Trustees, Spokesperson of the Trust Fund in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' thanked donors for their contributions but called for more donations.

According to him, "since 29th March when the President inaugurated the Board while Parliament passed the COVID-19 National Trust Fund Act to establish it till 30th June, before we went to Tamale to do distribution of national PPEs and other medical items, we had 53.9 million cedis in the Fund".

He further disclosed that the Board has distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other medical items to seven treatment and health centres in the Western, Central and Western North Regions to confront the disease.

The health facilities received items to a sum of 10 million cedis comprising thermometer guns, heavy-duty aprons, disposable aprons, assorted gloves, surgical facemasks and goggles among others.

The Spokesperson directed donors to make their donations either directly at their location at Jubilee House Annex or dial their contact numbers 0596978591/0596978592.

They can also make their cash donations into the accounts of the Fund at either GCB Bank or the Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG).
