Stop Using Your Mouth To 'Collapse' Ghana's Movie Industry - FIPAG Prez Blasts Actor Kwaku Manu

Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) President, James Aboagye has sent a quick reply to Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu over his comment that the movie industry is at the verge of collapse.

Kwaku Manu granted an interview and insisted the Ghana's movie industry today is not booming.

He further cried about the impact of the coronavirus disease saying it has aggravated the challenges confronting the movie industry and further claimed a lot of the actors and actresses are very short of money.

But speaking in an interview with host Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM's 'Entertainment Review', the FIPAG President refuted the claims, stressing Kwaku Manu and his likes who make such statements are the ones crippling the industry.

According to him, the movie industry is nowhere near collapse but instead the actors have not picked up the pace of the digital world.

He expounded that the film producers and the actors are lagging behind when it comes to technology but strongly believes should the system be fixed, the industry will make significant progress.

"As far as I'm concerned as a Producer, the industry has not collapsed . . . Before the industry will collapse, then it is where people have stopped watching movies. But the question is have people stopped watching movies? The answer is no. It is because technology and situations have changed and unfortunately, we haven't been abreast with technological change .  .  . Today, we have smart TVs, smartphones; people are using desktop internet to watch it. So, people are still watching but the question is have we applied ourselves to this technology? The answer is no. So, the job hasn't dwindle. We have rather moved with technology," he lamented.

He advised Kwaku Manu to refrain from making such utterances about the country's movie industry.

"When they come to say the industry has collapsed, which investor listening to such comments will invest their money in it?" he questioned.
