There's "Brain Damage" Associated With Contracting COVID-19 - Nana Ofori Owusu

PPP National Chairman, Nana Ofori Owusu has urged the government and all Ghanaians to treat the Coronavirus disease with uttermost seriousness and stop banking their hopes on the high chances of recovery from the disease.

According to him, the focus of the citizenry should be on preventing themselves from the disease, stressing ''prevention is better than cure''.

He cautioned government officials and health authorities handling the COVID-19 situation to stop telling Ghanaians to learn to live with the disease, hence comparing the COVID-19 to malaria.

"Do you know that we don't need to live with malaria? Other countries that had malaria took some bold steps to eradicate malaria from their communities; so if we're living with malaria, it's because of choice and failed leadership. This is why we haven't taken it on ourselves to eradicate malaria. This is not to a specific government alone but I mean the attitude of Ghana over malaria has not been good. Let us not import the same attitude to deal with the COVID-19 because the COVID-19, from the little research, is a serious matter; very serious matter'', he said.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Nana Ofori Owusu stated that the COVID-19 patients will suffer its repercussions even when they recover.

He told host Nana Yaw Kesseh that the recovered persons will have a brain damage and so called on both government and Ghanaians not to toy with the disease.

"There's brain damage associated with getting COVID-19 in whatever forms it will take. When you contract COVID-19, your concentration levels become affected . . . The disease we're battling is a disease that we cannot relax about," he stressed.
