Ignore ‘Leaked Papers’ - GES Says As WASSCE Starts Today

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has urged candidates writing this year's West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to ignore fake examination questions being circulated.

The Director-General of the GES, Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa in an interview on Peace FM's Morning show 'Kokrokoo' indicated that there is no subject like general paper or general science and that it is a ploy to dupe unsuspecting parents

According to him, there are some mischievous people operating a rogue website and they are collecting money from parents; adding 'we are vigilant and anyone caught will be dealt with'

WASSCE starts today

This year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will start today, Monday, 3 August 2020, with a total of 375,737 candidates in over 796 examination centres across the country.

Countries taking part in 2020 WASSCE

All The five countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and Liberia are taking part in this year's examination despite the coronavirus pandemic, according to the GES Boss.

However, due to variations in subjects, the timetable will not be the same; except for the common papers.

"Each of the five countries has their own distinct subjects but there are some which are common. So, students in the countries will start writing those subjects then we all come together to write the ones which are common to all the countries like Mathematics and English. A paper like Integrated Science is only written by candidates in Ghana..." he explained

Meanwhile, the common papers written by students in all the five countries will start on 17th August 2020.
