The University was established per the UNIVERSITY OF ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (UESD) ACT,2015 (ACT898)
Sodcutting for the project was on 30th December 2016. However, financial and contractual challenges delayed the start of the project until January 2018.
Under Phase One of the project, the following facilities have been constructed by Messrs Contracta Costruzioni Italia,
Lecture Hall Block for the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences 13 No. Lecture Halls with a total seating capacity of 1,545 1 No. Video Conference Room with a seating capacity of 40 1 No. Computer Research Room with a seating capacity of 24 6 No. Offices for Senior Lecturers 2 No. Students' Common Room 5 No. Telecom Rooms Washrooms Store Rooms i. Multi-Purpose Hall Block for the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences 252- Seater Multi-functional Hall Control Room 100- Seater Dining Room Cafe Kitchen Serving Area Locker Rooms and Washrooms Store Rooms
ii. Laboratory Building for the School of Agriculture and Agro-Entrepreneurship Development 7 No. Laboratory Rooms with a total seating capacity of 132 7 No. Apparatus Rooms Telecom Rooms Washrooms Store Rooms
iii. Faculty Offices (Administration Block) for the School of Agriculture and Agro-Entrepreneurship Development Entrance Foyer/Reception 18 No. Offices 2 No. Conference Rooms Board Room Washrooms Store Rooms

The cost of this phase is Forty-five million, Five Hundred and Seventy-five Thousand Euros (€45,575,000.00). This was under a Commercial Agreement with M/S Contracta Construzione through Financing Agreements with the Deutsche Bank S.p.A and the Export Credit Guarantee from Italy.
Official commencement date for the project was set at January 9, 2018.
Phase Two involves the provision of the following facilities:
The Contract agreement was signed on 6th May, 2020.
The EPC/Turnkey Contract Agreement with M/S Contracta is valued at Forty-nine million, Eight Hundred and Ninety-one Thousand, Ninety-eight Euros (€49,891,098.00) for completion within 30months.
FINANCIAL CLEARANCE FOR STAFF RECRUITMENT Government, through the Ministry of Finance, has granted financial clearance to the university to recruit an initial 300 staff members to enable its smooth take-off.
UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS
The Interim Council is also expected to commence recruitment of its first batch of undergraduate students for the 2020/2021 academic year.
FINANCING OF BUNSO CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY Government of Ghana has received a loan from the Export-Import Bank of Korea from the resources of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Republic of Korea in the amount of US$90,000,000 toward the cost of the Establishment of University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Bunso Campus Project. The loan agreement was signed in 2018.
