Akufo-Addo Has Paid Less Than 10% Of Microfinance Depositors…98% Claim Untrue!

President of the Association of Affected Customers of Savings and Loans institutions, Mr Ezekiel Annor has debunked the claims of President Nana Akufo-Addo paying 98 percent of microfinance depositors.

According to him, the Bank of Ghana after revoking the licenses of these financial institutions made the Association aware that about 3.3 million people had been affected by the situation.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Midday News, Mr Annor indicated that less than 10 percent constituting 297, 000 people out of the 3.3 million of the depositors have received their monies.

President Akufo-Addo in a radio conversation on Koforidua-based Sunrise FM disclosed that 98 percent of the depositors at the microfinance and savings and loans have been paid; assuring to pay the rest of the depositors by the end of August 2020.

The affected people upon the news from the President submitted their claims but Mr Ezekiel Annor said that they were told during the validation that their names could not be found in the system.

“We sense a deliberate attempt that about 87% of our people are going to be denied payments,” he stated.

Minority Leader in Parliament however is demanding an audit of the payment of money to depositors of the collapsed financial institutions as the same depositors are questioning the 98 percent being paid.

“They are simply not being transparent. We heard the president say that 96% of depositors have been paid an irony, why are the same depositors questioning it?” Haruna Iddrisu quizzed.

He explained that the audit will put to light whether the claims by the President are reliable.
